Postural yoga is a mindfulness approach to transforming posture via self-transformation. It's based on the concept that posture is a reflection of Self, or who we are. It is called Tadasana yoga because Tadasana (mountain pose) represents a postural ideal and is an ancient yoga posture.
The core objectives are:
Stillness of mind and body
Mind - consciousness connect
Mind - body connect
Core techniques are:
Yoga nidra
Meditation
Pranayama
Asana
UPON stretch and release
Sometimes called Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR), yoga nidra is a powerful technique for accessing deep states of consciousness and impressing sankalpa (intention) for self-transformation.
The meditation technique is called Awareness Meditation taught by Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche. Powerful and direct, perfect for modern people's minds.
Sometimes called breathwork, Pranayama uses the breath to shift consciousness and facilitate deep focus. Two techniques form the basis: Centering breath
Physiologic sigh
Postures: only two form the asana profile for this yoga: Savasana (corpse pose) and Tadasana (mountain pose). These two poses are achievable for nearly everyone as they are easy to learn and perform.
Several stretch and release exercises are included in Tadasana yoga to help the practitioner gain the necessary flexibility and mind-body connection. These form the basis of the UPON Method.
